Acceptable Use Policy

The values behind this policy

Rules only get you so far. Here's the spirit we're actually asking you to hold to — the specific rules further down are just that spirit made concrete and enforceable.

What you agree to do

• Post content that's genuinely yours to share, and that you believe to be true.
• Identify real events and real moments as what they are.
• Respect the moderation decisions of the organization hosting an event you're posting to — it's their event page.
• Report content or behavior that violates this policy instead of retaliating.
• Keep your account credentials to yourself, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

What's never allowed

Harm to people

• Harassment, bullying, stalking, or sustained targeting of another person.
• Threats of violence, or content that incites violence against a person or group.
• Hate speech or content that degrades, dehumanizes, or discriminates against people on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or similar protected characteristics.
• Doxxing — sharing someone's private information (address, phone number, financial details) without their consent and with intent to expose or endanger them.

Dishonesty

• Impersonating another person, brand, or organization.
• Deliberately false or fabricated "live" content presented as real.
• Coordinated inauthentic behavior — fake accounts, bots, or manipulated engagement designed to distort what looks like genuine reaction to an event.

Platform abuse

• Spam, unsolicited bulk messaging, or using the messaging/chat features to advertise unrelated products or services.
• Attempting to circumvent moderation, rate limits, or channel restrictions an organization has set.
• Scraping, reverse-engineering, or accessing the platform through automated means outside the documented, authorized API.
• Uploading malware, or content designed to exploit a security vulnerability.

Illegal or infringing content

• Anything illegal under applicable law in the jurisdictions Update operates in.
• Content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.
• Sale or promotion of illegal goods or services.

Organizations' own responsibility

Organizations that moderate their own event pages carry the same obligations above for what they choose to approve and publish, plus the responsibility to moderate in good faith — not to suppress legitimate, truthful contributions simply because they're unflattering. An organization's control over its own page is real and respected, but it is not a license to falsify the record of what happened.

How we enforce this

We aim for enforcement that's proportionate and fair — a first-time, borderline issue is treated differently from a deliberate, severe violation.

1. Content action — an update, reply, or message that violates this policy may be removed or hidden, by the hosting organization or by us.
2. Warning — for a first or minor violation, we may simply let you know what happened and why.
3. Restriction — repeated or more serious violations may result in a temporary block from posting, messaging, or specific features.
4. Termination — severe or repeated violations result in permanent account termination, and in the sexual-exploitation-of-minors category, immediate termination with no prior step.
5. Reporting to authorities — where content is illegal or indicates a real risk to someone's safety, we may report it to law enforcement, with or without prior notice to you, as required or appropriate.

Reporting a problem

If you see content or behavior that violates this policy, report it through the in-app reporting tool where available, or contact us directly. We review reports and act on genuine violations; we don't tolerate the reporting tool itself being used to harass someone whose content you simply disagree with.
